Visiting Musician 2016-17: Mezzo-Soprano Sarah Connolly
Acclaimed mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly is Oriel's Visiting Musician for the 2016-17 academic year.
Sarah will give two Masterclasses for students in College (one on 21st November 2016 and one on 7th March 2017), and will also perform a concert at the Holywell Music Room on 6th March 2017. Please keep an eye on the College event listings for further details.
Students will receive an invitation to take part in the November Masterclass once timings have been confirmed.

About Sarah Connolly
Awarded a CBE in the 2010 New Year’s Honours and the Royal Philharmonic Society’s 2012 Singer Award, Sarah Connolly is much in demand for the lyric mezzo-soprano repertoire.
She has sung at the Lucerne, Salzburg, Tanglewood and Three Choirs Festivals and BBC Proms where, in 2009, she was a memorable guest soloist at The Last Night. Opera engagements have taken her around the world from the Metropolitan Opera to Covent Garden and La Scala; to the Munich and Vienna State Operas and the Bayreuth and Aix-en-Provence Festivals.
Highlights in her 2016/17 season include Geschwitz Lulu (ENO) and Gertrude in the world premiere of Brett Dean's Hamlet (Glyndebourne). Concerts include The Dream of Gerontius (Berliner Staatskapelle/Barenboim); Fricka Das Rheingold (Boston Symphony Orchestra/Nelsons); Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis (Hamburg Symphoniker/Tate) and Das Lied von der Erde (Chicago Symphony Orchestra/Haitink). She opens the Wigmore Hall’s 2016/17 season with Malcolm Martineau and she will also give recitals in Madrid and Amsterdam with Julius Drake; in Schwarzenberg with Graham Johnson and in Atlanta, San Francisco and New York with Joseph Middleton.
