Dr Jan Schnupp, DPhil, BSc (Genetics, UCL), BA (Math Sci, Open)
I was born in Munich, Germany and came to the UK in the mid 80s to study, and I liked it so much that I'm still at it. After my BSc in Genetics at University College London I came to Oxford to do my doctorate in Neurophysiology. A Junior Research Fellowship at Christ Church followed, then a Dunhill Medical research Fellowship, then a non-stipendiary lectureship at Trinity, and finally a Tutorial Fellowship at St Peter's which I hold jointly with a stipendiary lectureship at Oriel.
My research is in the area of sensory neurophysiology, mainly aspects of central auditory processing ("how the brain makes sense of sound"). Together with Prof Andrew King I co-direct the Oxford Auditory Neuroscience Group (www.oxfordhearing.com).
