I came to Oriel in October 2005 having previously taught in Paris and Durham. My research falls mainly in the field of early modern French literature and thought. I have related interests in comparative and interdisciplinary work, translation, and questions of critical method and theory. Further details can be found on the French sub-faculty website http://faculty.mml.ox.ac.uk/indivstaff.php?personid=194&subfac=fr. I enjoy teaching not only within my area of specialist research, but outside it too, since I am a keen reader of French and Francophone writing in all its diversity. Outside Oriel, I am a director of the Oxford Amnesty Lectures www.oxford-amnesty-lectures.org, and coordinated the 2003 Lectures on the topic of Divided Cities.
