Team Oriel Takes on Town and Gown 10k
A large Oriel contingent took part in the Oxford Town and Gown 10k on Sunday 15th May, raising money and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Team Oriel was made up of around 90 students, alumni and staff, plus a few family members who joined in too. The team gathered on the steps in Front Quad bright and early for the customary pre-race photo, and then headed off to the start line in University Parks.
Dressed in their official ‘Team Oriel’ t-shirts, the Team Oriel runners were easy to spot during the race and they were enthusiastically cheered on by College members who had positioned themselves along the route.
After crossing the finish line the runners assembled by the College flag in University Parks, where the Oriel supporters were on hand to pass out mini Mars Bars to aid with recovery.
The Oriel team was so large (the largest team from any one College) that it attracted a fair bit of attention, and before the race some members of the Oriel team featured in the Oxford Mail.
There is still time to sponsor the team and help them raise more money for Muscular Dystrophy UK by visiting their JustGiving page:https://www.justgiving.com/OrielCollege.
