Annette is a Fellow and Tutor in Modern Languages. In 2015, Annette was elected as a Fellow of the British Academy in recognition of her outstanding research in medieval German studies.

Research interests

Annette Volfing is a medievalist with particular interest in later medieval religious, mystical, philosophical or allegorical writing. She has written monographs of Heinrich von Mügeln and on medieval uses of the figure of John the Evangelist. Current research projects include Albrecht's 'Jüngerer Titurel' and the 'Tochter Syon' material. She has also written articles on the "classic" narrative texts by Heinrich von Veldeke, Wolfram von Eschenbach and Gottfried von Straßburg.
