Dr Hannah Bailey has her BA from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, her MA in Medieval Studies at the University of York, and her DPhil from Jesus College, Oxford.
She now teaches medieval literature at Oriel, Jesus, and Wadham.
Dr Bailey's main area of research is Old English poetry, though she has also published on early Middle English literature and on William Faulkner. She is especially interested in how Old English poetic language works, how Old English poets respond to patristic tropes conceptualizing processes of understanding, and how they use architectural imagery. Her favourite Old English poems are Andreas, Beowulf, and The Dream of the Rood.
A list of Dr Bailey's publications can be found on her English Faculty page.
