Night Porter

Salary: £26,411 p.a.

Home to world-class teaching, learning and research, we welcome students and staff from all over the world.  The College is the fifth oldest college in Oxford, and is situated on Oxford’s High Street. Oriel College currently has around 300 undergraduate students and 200 postgraduate students, studying a whole range of subjects.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy team as a Night Lodge Porter.  Duties will include meeting and greeting a broad range of visitors to the college, answering incoming telephone calls, handling emergencies including welfare issues, security patrols and helping maintain good order throughout the College.

We are looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate that they cope well under pressure in a calm and professional manner.  You should be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be PC literate.  Previous experience working in a front-line customer facing role is essential.

Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience of working in either a reception or a security role or who have previous college experience. The job holder should be prepared to qualify as a college First Aider.

Regularly working nights on a rota basis 4 days on, 4 days off. 7pm – 7am. The post holder will be asked to work day shifts on their shift pattern if the need arises.
