Supporting Oriel - 2026 Campaign
Oriel has long relied on the generosity of Orielenses and others to help maintain academic standards, to ensure that no student should be denied a place for financial reasons and to develop and renovate its buildings.
Our aim is to secure Oriel’s future by 2026, the 700th Anniversary of its foundation. During the course of the Campaign, significant sums of money will be required for diverse College projects. Your support is vital.
2026 Campaign Overview
The Provost and Fellows have conducted a detailed review of Oriel’s present position. In the resulting College Plan they identified the following requirements to maintain our current standing within the university and the world.
Teaching and Research
It is essential that Oriel is able to attract the best fellows and lecturers by endowing Fellowships at the necessary level. Increased funding for graduates benefits both the teaching of undergraduates and research.
Student Support
Oriel must continue to admit students purely on merit, irrespective of their financial background. In the light of the current funding reforms, our Hardship scheme must be greatly expanded and supplemented by a similar scheme for graduate students.
Buildings
The renovation of the College’s historic buildings and the provision of modern facilities are a continual demand on resources. A priority project for the College is the rennovation and remodeling of the Rhodes Building.
