Using the Library Safely
From Monday 12th October (1st Week of Michaelmas) the Library will be open for pre-booked study and browsing sessions, during staffed hours (9am-5pm, Monday-Friday).
Whilst in the Library, to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment, please note the following:
- Please wear a face covering at all times, unless exempt
- Enter via the door in Second Quad and exit via the door to Third Quad
- Please use hand sanitizer upon entering the Library/reading rooms
- Please put all books used in the Library into the book return boxes by the self-service machines (available on each floor). You are advised to borrow any items that may need again within three days
- All returned books will be quarantined for 72 hours before being shelved.

Slots to use the reading room desk spaces in the Library can be booked here. Each slot lasts up to 2.5 hours and will be released a week in advance. Slots should be booked at least 24 hours in advance (or by 5pm on Thursday for Monday slots). Once you have submitted the form, Library staff will contact you to confirm or rearrange your session. Please only attend the Library if your session has been confirmed. This service is available Monday-Friday only, during office hours (9am to 5pm).
Browsing and Book Returns
Timeslots to browse the shelves for books can be booked here. Each slot lasts for 15 minutes and this service is available Monday-Friday only. Library staff will contact you via email to confirm or rearrange your session. Please only attend the Library if your session has been confirmed.
Click and Collect
A temporary, staff-mediated click and collect service is available. Eligible items can be identified on SOLO with the green ‘Request’ button. You will need to be logged into SOLO using your SSO to see this option and a maximum of 10 items can be requested at one time. Library staff will contact you when your items are available for collection.
Not all items in the Library are available for Click and Collect. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are looking to access any items that are not available via Click and Collect.
The Library has expanded its supply of borrowable study equipment, including book-stands and noise-cancelling headphones. Please contact the Library via email on email@example.com for more information.
