I studied Biology at the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany, and subsequently obtained my PhD in Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.) at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research.
After that, I spent several years as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Senior Advisor at Aarhus University in Denmark. During that time, I also worked part-time as a scientist in the drug discovery company PCovery in Copenhagen.
In early 2015, I accepted a Junior Research Group Leader position at the Institute of Biochemistry of the Goethe-University Frankfurt, and in November 2015, I joined the University of Oxford as an Associate Professor in Microbial Biophysics and a Tutorial Fellow of Oriel College.
My research interests include X-ray crystallography, membrane protein structure and function, and drug development against pathogenic bacteria and fungi.
