History and Politics

History and Politics are complementary subjects in many ways, going way beyond the old cliché that ‘history is past politics, and politics is present history.’ Students on this joint course will study elements of the two disciplines separately, and they will be encouraged to cross-fertilize between them. This can happen through the historical study of political thought, and through the application of contemporary political theory to historical examples.
