Oriel accepts postgraduate students in many subjects, but not all graduate courses are offered at the college. Applicants should check your course page on the University of Oxford website to see whether we offer your course.

Academic Support
One of the benefits of belonging to a college is the additional academic support that we offer postgraduate students. The Tutor for Graduates, who is a Fellow of the college, has responsibility for the academic affairs of graduate students. Upon arrival, graduate students are allocated a College Advisor (in addition to their University Supervisor), who is a Fellow or Tutor of the College in their broad subject field. Your College Advisor and the Tutor for Graduates are there to provide additional support for graduate students, and you are always welcome to contact them.
Research and Networking
Oriel’s fellows, who are all involved in graduate teaching and guidance, are engaged in world-leading research. There are many opportunities to interact, socially and academically, with Oriel’s fellows during your time here. Different subjects organise talks, lectures, seminars and other events throughout the year that can be attended by graduate students.
The MCR (Middle Common Room) runs regular academic events called ‘Oriel Talks’ which bring together members of all three common rooms and aim to promote the research interests of Oriel’s postgraduate students across the College. Many College social events, to which postgraduate students are invited, take place throughout the year and the MCR also organises regular social events to which fellows of the College are invited.
Graduate Teaching Scheme
Oriel is keen to provide teaching opportunities for postgraduates, and we have our own graduate teaching scheme. Each year several Graduate Teaching Assistants are appointed from across a range of subjects. These positions are advertised in the Vacancies section of the College website, and MCR members will also be notified by email when opportunities arise.
