Outreach Officer

Salary: £30 – £34k per annum (dependent on experience)

Reports to: Academic Registrar

Department: Academic Office

Oriel College is looking to recruit an Outreach Officer.

The successful candidate will build on the progress made in recent years to attract academically-outstanding applicants to Oriel from an increasingly diverse range of backgrounds. You will work with our partners Generating Genius to encourage Black and disadvantaged applicants, and promote and maintain close relationships with schools in our West Midlands link areas. Your responsibilities will include organising open days and visits to and from schools, coordinating the Student Ambassador Scheme, and developing digital outreach resources.

Oriel is committed to attracting and admitting the best applicants regardless of school, ethnicity or social background. Our outreach and admissions processes reflect this.

You will join an experienced team in the Academic Office who will support you in taking responsibility for outreach and access initiatives and working with counterparts in other Oxford colleges. You will demonstrate excellent planning and organisational abilities and be a highly effective communicator in working with children, young people, school teachers and academics. A DBS check is required. Experience of secondary school education or the outreach sector is essential. Some knowledge of Oxford and its admissions processes is desirable but is not essential. The College particularly welcomes applications from women and people of black or minority ethnic backgrounds as they are underrepresented within the College at this level.
