The Chaplain

The Revd Dr Rob Wainwright

As Chaplain my role is to pray for the College and to support the wellbeing of its students and staff. I am here for every member of the Oriel community, and am always happy to listen and discuss any matter. I am responsible for arranging all the services in Chapel and various feasts in the Oriel year. I am a member of the Welfare Team, and am also a Tutor in Theology. I can be found in room 3.3 in the Front Quad. Please knock on the door or contact me at: chaplain@oriel.ox.ac.uk

Director of Music

Dr David Maw

As Director of Chapel Music at Oriel, I work to maintain and develop the standard of liturgical music-making in the Chapel. My role involves overseeing the recruitment and auditioning of the Choir, the appointment of Organ and Choral Scholars, and working closely with the Chaplain in planning services. I also liaise with the Chaplain and Choir Committee on the organisation of the annual Choir Tour, Cathedral visits, occasional recordings and similar initiatives. From week to week, I am involved in conducting the Choir and playing the organ, sharing these activities with the Organ Scholars. Any member of the University is welcome to audition for Oriel Choir at any point during the academic year. Please contact me at: musicdirector@oriel.ox.ac.uk.
