Alumni and friends come together to support current and future students on Giving Day

The contributions by alumni and friends go directly towards student bursaries, ensuring access for all students to the opportunities on offer at Oxford. They could also help fund the installation of heat pumps, a lift into the library building and equipment for the Boat Club.

Marco Zhang, Director of Development, says:

“I am deeply grateful to everyone who made a gift this year. The number of alumni and friends who showed their support is a vote of confidence in the value of an education at our College.

“The effect these donations will have on current students cannot be stated enough. The cost of living crisis affects people disproportionately, and your support means that all students, regardless of their personal and family circumstances, can fully grasp the opportunities afforded to them here.

“It was also wonderful to see some current students get involved this year, with 38 already doing what they can to support future generations.”

Including the 359 donors who gave on Giving Day, over 1,100 donors have donated to Oriel College during 2024 so far.

Together donating over £2.3m, they bring Oriel within touching distance of the £65m by 2026 target of its anniversary campaign set in motion by alumni over 20 years ago.

Gifts can still be made at the 2024 Giving Day page. Please show your support by making a gift today. Just ten more alumni donors are needed to surpass last year’s record of 1,067 alumni donations in a single year.
