Boat Race 2025: Half of Oxford men’s boat from Oriel College

The 2025 Boat Race crew announcement at Battersea Power Station

The respective crews for the 2025 Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge were announced on 26 March at Battersea Power Station in London.

Four students from Oriel College will row against Cambridge in Oxford’s men’s boat. They are Nick Rusher (MSc(Res) Paediatrics), Tom Mackintosh (MBA), James Doran (MSc(Res) Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics) and William O’Connell (MBA), and they will row in seventh, sixth, fourth and second seat, in that order.

Two other Oriel students, Isaac Throsby (second-year, PPE) and Anoushka Sahota (fourth-year, BA French), are on Oxford’s openweight teams. Throsby will row for Oxford in the reserve boat, Isis.

The 2025 Boat Race takes place on 13 April, with the women’s race starting at 1.21pm and the men’s race at 2.21pm.

Another athlete from Oriel College, Amelia Monaghan (fourth-year, BA Classics and French), will represent Oxford in the women’s lightweight boat, Oxford University Boat Club today (2 April) announced.

The women’s lightweight boat race starts at 12.51pm on 12 April.
