Celebrating Black History Month: JCR and Library Create New Book Exhibition

After Black History Month, these books will be merged with the Library’s collections. Books are available for College members to borrow whilst they are being exhibited.

Books in the collection include:

  • Brit(ish): On Race, Identity and Belonging – by Afua Hirsch
  • Black and British: A Forgotten History – by David Olusoga
  • Homecoming: Voices of the Windrush Generation – by Colin Grant
  • The Hill We Climb: An Inaugural Poem – by Amanda Gorman
  • So You Want to Talk About Race – by Ijeoma Oluo
  • Still Breathing: 100 Black Voices on Racism, 100 Ways to Change the Narrative – by Suzette Llewellyn and Suzanne Packer
  • Twice As Hard: Navigating Black Stereotypes and Creating Space for Success – by Opeyemi Sofoluke and Raphael Sofoluke

Alongside the physical collection, a virtual exhibit has been created for those not in College, and it can be viewed here.

The aim of this initiative is to expand the Library’s collections in the areas of Black history and wider literature, and to make them accessible to all members of College. Over the course of the year, the JCR and the Library will continue to work together to showcase diversity in literature.
