Oriel SCR member Dr Edward Brooks has been selected by Thinkers50 as one of 30 up-and-coming individuals in business and management globally.
Dr Brooks is Director of the Oxford Character Project, an interdisciplinary initiative with a team of research fellows from across the humanities and social sciences. The project focuses on the exploration of character and leadership in higher education, commercial organisations, and international development. His research focuses on virtue ethics, hope, and character and leadership development.
He is part of a multi-year project at Harvard University’s Human Flourishing Program to better understand and measure hope and optimism, and is currently writing a book on research-based strategies for character development.
The Thinkers50 Radar identifies an annual cohort of 30 influential researchers whose ideas have the potential to make a significant impact on global business and management in the future. It shines a light on fresh talent and new avenues of business and management thought.
On his inclusion in the Thinkers50 Radar class of 2023, Dr Brooks said: “I am delighted to have been selected by Thinkers 50 in their Radar list and am grateful for the opportunity to share our research on character and leadership at the Oxford Character Project. In a complex and uncertain world, character is the key to building trust, leading with purpose, and engaging the challenges of our time.”
