Gower Memorial Creative Arts Prize 2022

As the result of a generous benefaction by Mr and Mrs Robert Gower in memory of their daughter, Philippa, the College is offering a prize of up to £500, known as the Gower Memorial Creative Arts Prize.

This prize is open to any undergraduate or graduate member of Oriel College for a work in any aspect of the creative arts, other than music (for which College support is provided separately).

The prize may be split between winners at the judges’ discretion.

Creative arts will be interpreted very broadly, but examples of fields in which entries are welcome include (but not limited to):

  • Painting and drawing
  • Sculpture
  • Photography
  • Poetry
  • Drama
  • Prose
  • Artistic performance

How to Enter

All submissions should be received or performed by 12 noon on Friday 28th October 2022.

Please submit entries to the Provost’s PA, Mrs Rebecca Bricklebank at: rebecca.bricklebank@oriel.ox.ac.uk.

The competition is open to all current members of the College, including those who will have left by the closing date.

The decision of the Prize Committee will be announced in Michaelmas Term.

Images of winning entries will be published online on Oriel’s website, and in print in the Oriel Record.
