83% of this year’s undergraduate finalists achieved Upper Second Class degrees or higher
Oriel’s undergraduate finalists are celebrating outstanding results, with over 30% receiving either First Class degrees or distinctions and 83% an Upper Second Class or higher.
The Provost, Lord Mendoza, was heartened at the success of Oriel’s students. “I’m forever impressed by their academic rigour and steadfastness, and also their ability to effectively balance their work with so many other interests,” he said.
“I have no doubt they’ll go on to do remarkable things, and they know that Oriel remains their place for life.”
There are nine students who, still waiting for their results, have been awarded “declared to have deserved honours” qualifications.
This year’s finalists had their studies disrupted, like so many others, by the pandemic. They demonstrated resilience in the face of that challenge.
During and after the prolonged periods of self-isolation and social distancing, many also devoted tremendous amounts of time and effort to ensuring our undergraduate student community remained strong.
Oriel College is looking forward to welcoming a new cohort of undergraduates in October.
