The Provost and Fellows of Oriel College are greatly saddened to learn of the death of our Visitor, Her Majesty The Queen, on Thursday 8th September 2022.
Throughout Her Majesty’s extraordinary 70-year reign, her connection to Oriel has been a great source of pride for the College. Her visits to Oriel, the first of which took place in 1948 when she was still Princess Elizabeth and the most recent of which took place in 2013, are remembered with great fondness by all who attended.
We offer our deepest condolences to His Majesty The King and to members of the Royal Family, and will keep them in our thoughts.
A book of condolence will be available in the Chapel for members of the College to pay their respects.
