Memorial Service for Sir John Elliott

The service will be followed by a reception in the Senior Common Room at Oriel College. The Memorial Service will be an opportunity for Sir John’s many friends, colleagues and former students to gather with his family to reflect upon his life.

Bookings for Memorial Event

Please note that Eventbrite bookings are required for all those attending, except current Oriel Fellows, Emeritus and Honorary Fellows and staff, who should email the Provost’s PA to confirm attendance (rebecca.bricklebank@oriel.ox.ac.uk).

We would like to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend, but hope it will be understood that this may not be possible if numbers exceed capacity.

Notes for Those Attending

Timings

Those attending are asked to be seated in the church no later than 2.15pm. The reception at the College will take place after the service and will finish no later than 4.30pm.

Attire

The suggested dress is business dress. Fellows and other members of the College are invited to wear gowns/academic dress.

Book of Remembrance

A Book of Remembrance will be available at Oriel College after the service.

Accessibility

The Senior Common Room at Oriel College is a flat route, crossing the High Street, of about 180 metres. There are a couple of steps into the Senior Common Room. Washroom facilities are available close to the SCR.

Parking

There is no parking available at the College or at the Church. Those coming by car from outside of Oxford may wish to use one of the Park & Ride sites. There is a public multi-storey car park at the Westgate Centre (0.4 miles on foot). More information about parking in Oxford can be found on the Oxford City Council website.
