Oriel College is searching for its next Provost who will succeed Lord Mendoza CBE
Oriel College has today (Monday 29 June) launched the recruitment process for its next Provost. The Provost is the head of the College and chair of its Governing Body.
Lord Mendoza CBE, Oriel’s current Provost, was elected to the role in 2018. He will end his second term as Provost at the end of the 2026–27 academic year.
The Governing Body intends to elect Lord Mendoza’s successor during the first half of 2027.
Dr Oliver Pooley, Vice-Provost, Fellow in Philosophy, said:
“We are very grateful to Lord Mendoza for his dedicated service to Oriel College and for his thoughtful stewardship of its academic mission and close-knit community.
“His Provostship has been marked by a deep affection for the College, careful attention to its people, and a clear sense of what is distinctive and valuable about Oriel.
“His successor, who will be Oriel’s 55th Provost in its 700-year history, will inherit a stable and flourishing college – proudly independent, embracing of difference and ambitious for the future.”
