Sidharth Chambocheri Veetil (MPhys Physics, 2022), was part of a team of undergraduates from Oxford that won this year’s finals of the international theoretical physics competition – PLANCKS – and will go on to represent the UK and Ireland at the world championship in Milan, in May.
The team won first place out of 56 participating teams from 34 universities of the UK and Ireland. The largest ever in-person preliminary was hosted by the University of Liverpool in February 2023.
PLANCKS is a physics competition for teams of three to four undergraduates. It is organized by the International Association of Physics Students (IAPS) and supported by the Institute of Physics (IOP).
Sidharth received an award from the College Travel Grants Fund to support attendance at the PLANCKS preliminary in Liverpool. All undergraduate or postgraduate Oriel students planning travels related to their studies are eligible for financial support, thanks to the generosity of alumni donors.
We wish Sidharth and other team members the best of luck at the upcoming PLANCKS competition this May!
