The Provost and Oriel’s academics gathered together last week for a farewell lunch in honour of Associate Professor of Microbial Biophysics, Maike Bublitz, who is Ron Bancroft Fellow in Biochemistry.
Dr Bublitz who is leaving Oriel has been a Fellow here since November 2015, and has made a significant contribution to the college.
The Provost, Lord Mendoza CBE, spoke of Dr Bublitz’s academic excellence:
“Maike has been an outstanding tutor, the quality of her teaching has been recognised by all her students. She demonstrates serious care by being attentive to the personal needs, strengths, and weaknesses of her students.
“I know that she is admired in her faculty both for her biochemistry teaching as well as her research into the biological functions of certain membrane transport proteins.
“We will miss her. Maike has been an excellent college citizen, providing wise advice in Governing Body and other committees in her characteristic delightful style”.
The farewell lunch was also attended by Dr John Huber, Professor Annette Volfing, Professor Colin Kleanthous, Dr Oliver Pooley, Dr Lynne Cox, Dr Dominic Alonzi, and Mrs Juliane Kerkhecker.
