Sir John Elliott Remembered with Service in University Church

The memorial service was attended by over 150 people, including Sir John’s family and current Oriel members, and was an opportunity for those present to celebrate Sir John’s life and share their own memories of him.

Oriel’s Provost, Lord Mendoza, gave a reading at the service, along with Vice Provost Mike Spivey and Fellow in History Ian Forrest. Personal tributes were delivered by Oriel Fellow and current Regius Professor of History Lyndal Roper, Honorary Fellow of All Souls College Sir Keith Thomas and Dr Fernando Cervantes, Reader in History at the University of Bristol.

The full order of service is available here.
