A memorial service honouring the life and achievements of former Regius Professor of History and Honorary and Emeritus Fellow Sir John Elliott was held at the University Church of St Mary the Virgin on Friday 10th June. The service was followed by a reception in Oriel’s Second Quad.
The memorial service was attended by over 150 people, including Sir John’s family and current Oriel members, and was an opportunity for those present to celebrate Sir John’s life and share their own memories of him.

Personal tributes were delivered by Oriel Fellow and current Regius Professor of History Lyndal Roper, Honorary Fellow of All Souls College Sir Keith Thomas and Dr Fernando Cervantes, Reader in History at the University of Bristol.
