Dr
Alessandra
Aloisi

After studying philosophy at the University of Pisa and at the Sorbonne, I completed my PhD in Aesthetics at the University of Pisa.

In 2015-2017, I was Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow at the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Warwick. I joined the University of Oxford in 2018 as a Departmental Lecturer in 18th- and 19th-Century French Literature at Jesus College.

Research interests

Eighteenth- and nineteenth-century French and Italian literature and philosophy; Aesthetics; History of ideas; Prehistory of cinema; Medical humanities.

I am currently completing a monograph that challenges the historical development of ‘distraction’ in its philosophical and literary implications (17th-19th centuries).
