Professor Abigail Adams-Prassl

BA, MPhil, DPhil

Abi studied PPE at Oriel between 2006 and 2009. Her father also studied PPE at Oriel and was tutored by Sir Derek Morris during the 1970s. Abi took up a Statutory Professorship at Nuffield College in January 2023.

Abi’s work spans many areas of applied microeconomics, including the economics of decision-making within the family, the economic impact of the COVID pandemic, access to the legal system and analysis of labour market outcomes. She has published widely in world-leading journals in Economics and Law and has been the recipient of many prizes for her scholarship. Abi’s work has been extremely impactful; her work underpinned the Supreme Court declaring tribunal fees illegal in 2017, she is leading a study into Crown Prosecution Service biases in the bringing of charges for allegations of rape and violence against women and she is a regular advisor to UK Parliamentary Select Committees.
