Governance Officer

Salary: £31,653 – £38,155 per annum (dependent on experience)

Reports to: Treasurer

Department: Treasurer’s Office

Oriel College is looking for a Governance Officer, reporting directly to the Treasurer.  We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, meticulous in their attention to detail and a thoughtful communicator; these matter much more than your current professional background.  You might already be a fully-fledged governance professional who enjoys how this important work supports and impacts College operations, but equally you might be an experienced administrator who wants to train professionally into a role which has real career opportunity and challenge.

Our new Governance Officer will enjoy writing clearly and concisely, whether minuting important Committee decisions or delivering detailed written analysis that works out the practical implications of legal and compliance regulations.  They will work alongside our talented management team, getting real insight into the working environment of the College and being involved in a wide variety of work.  This work might include helping with procurement tendering documentation for major building projects, understanding Health and Safety requirements for events, working on policy updates with the HR department or supporting Oriel’s students through managing financial hardship grant applications. Where required, we will provide training in key areas such as responding to Freedom of Information and Subject Access Request enquiries to ensure our new Governance Officer is confident to undertake this important work.
