Canonisation of John Henry Newman

Registration to attend the Canonisation Mass of John Henry Newman in Rome opens on Thursday 11 July at 12 noon (BST).

Earlier this month the Vatican announced the canonisation of John Henry Newman to take place in Rome on Sunday 13 October 2019 at 10am. Registration to attend this event, which is open to the general public, will begin from Thursday 11 July at 12 noon (BST). Tickets can be booked online here.

In honour of this historic occasion, Oriel College will be holding a lunch time event on 13 October in Rome. Details of the event will be posted shortly.

John Henry Newman was a Fellow of Oriel from 1822 to 1846. He will be the first English saint since the 1970s canonisation of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales, executed under Reformation laws.
