The Germund Dahlquist Prize is awarded every two years to one individual “for original contributions to numerical solution of differential equations and numerical methods for scientific computing”.

Farrell joined Oriel College as a Fellow and the University of Oxford’s Mathematical Institute as an associate professor in 2016. He was promoted to a full professor in 2022.

His research focuses on numerical solutions of partial differential equations arising in physics and chemistry.
